The Library is now open ! Limited to 1/2 hour visits

Monday-Thursday 10am to 1 pm and 2pm to 6pm

Friday 10am to 1 pm and 2 pm to 5 pm

Saturday 10am -1 pm

Delivery and Curb Service is available

Public restroom is closed at this time.

All items returned MUST be put in the outside book drop. As of January the library is fine free!

All Library card patrons in the city of Wheatland and Rural areas have access to Bridges.

This offers E-book, E-audio books and magazines. Your library card information must be current for access

to this feature.

Librarian Assistant

City of Wheatland

Curtis Memorial Library has a part-time position, 14-18 hours a week with starting pay of $10/hour. Job Description


Job Title:  Library Assistant

Reports to: Library Director

Date Revised: January 5, 2021

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following.

  1. Shelve library material in appropriate, accurate order.
  2. Work the circulation desk, keeping accurate records daily.
  3. Answer the telephone as needed.
  4. Clean and straighten all areas of the library as needed or directed.
  5. Assist patrons in the use of the library and finding material.
  6. Assist patrons with library technology such as Computer, Copier, Printer and Fax.
  7. Perform basic cataloging of library material as directed.
  8. File library information as needed.
  9. Provide assistance with programs as needed.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.
  11. Attend monthly staff meetings.

 Qualifications Required:

   Ability to learn use of computer and other equipment; ability to relate to a variety of people; ability to manage difficult situations; ability to work a variety of hours. Must have completed a high school education.

Physical, Mental and Environmental requirements:

  Position requires light work with the ability to lift up to 20 lbs. The ability to operate and maintain office equipment and to communicate effectively with the public. Must be functionally literate in written and spoken English and be able to follow written and oral instructions. All questions and inquiries concerning library business must be addressed to the director at an appropriate time.
